Ethan’s primary job is to love his kids. Period. Anything he does to try and convince them that there Mother is a member of cult (at this age) will only backfire and drive them closer to her. Putting them in the middle of a faith contest will only confuse and devastate them over the long term. He needs to pray for them, love them, communicate with them, and most importantly model Jesus in every circumstance.
I think this is very good advice. You never want to bad mouth your x in front of the children. When they get older they usually figure out who was right and who was wrong on their own.
What is YOUR opinion on how to handle my situation and what did you think of Grant's?
I think he did a good job. He seems like a man who thinks things through before he gives advice. I like Grant.

Aude it is 7:50 and I am getting more kids that ever. I thought I was going have candy left over but I may run out.

Tough situation Rebirth. I feel for you and your husband. If you can no longer believe it you can no longer believe it. I don't understand why jw have such a hard time getting the point. You can't force yourself to believe it and would he really want you faking it? As for his depression I would think if it has taken this long to show up there is other reason for it but it is easier to blame you that look into what is bothering him. JWs like everything in neat, easy to explain packages and the packages never include the Watchtower as a source of their problems. I think you are handling your situation pretty good. I really don't know what you can do. You can't force him to start thinking anymore he can force you to believe the WT. I went through this but I didn't have children. If I had children my marriage may have been over because I wouldn't want my kids being raise as dubs. It is too hard on them. Not just going out in field service but also school. Not being able to salute the flag or participate in holiday activities can really mess with their minds. They go through school constantly being embarassed by their religion. A lot of kids have some things that can't do because of their religion but JW kids can't do anything including sports and making friends.
I wish I could offer and easy way to make everything work out I don't think there is one. All I can say is be kind but be yourself and do what is best for your children.

Progress with my wife
by under_believer inwell, progress continues.
i no longer directly attack my wife's beliefs... i leave her with questions to ponder and give her research assignments.
if there's one thing the witnesses taught me, it's how to talk to people in a nonthreatening way about their beliefs.

She said "well, the Catholics have a huge problem with that, don't they
When I first left my wife and I had a similar discussion only she was referring to the immorality that goes on in "Christendom" in general. I told her that for every case she brought up I would match her with one where a JW did the same thing. She never took me up on it because she knew I could. I used to push pretty hard because I thought once someone was presented with the facts they would face up to facts, admit they were being duped and leave but it doesn' always work that way. You seem to be doing a pretty good job of bringing things to her attention. You know your wife better than anyone but as an outsider I think the best way is to go slow and don't push too much.

Thank God no one listened

Funny thing is he is still an active witness elder. How odd!!
How odd indeed. I know witness myself that are in that position. I just don't understand why they never catch on.
I always had this nagging thought: What if they do listen and become JWs
I had that same though but I didn't realize it till after I was out and then it surfaced. There were people I really like that I never wanted to become dubs because I knew it would ruin what I liked about them.
I guess if that did happen then the society would have to allow such careers. The witnesses would soon complain if they were ill with no teeth and got burgled every week lol.
I guess the point is the Watchtower Society only works because no one listens to it.
If Hitler had accepted Rutherford's offer we might have been going door to door with Mein Tower.
And I'd bet we would have had some pretty cool uniforms to go alone with Mein Tower. And medals also. The pioneer medal, special pioneer medal, the order of the mike boy medal etc. However I think the disfellowshipings would have been brutal.

I came it to the Watchtower in the early seventies. While my friends were going to college I was out selling Watchtowers. For some reason while cleaning the garage this morning I was thinking about this and thinking of the doctor I used to go to back then. I'm sure he is retired now. This lead to the thought that if people back then had listened to our message of Jehovah's Kingdom there would be no doctors to go to but no shortage of highly inteligent unfulfilled door to door magazine salespeople. Not an original though but one I feel should be expressed now and then.
